Why speak at any conference at all?

Most of all you have the gratitude of the community. It will also provide you with the opportunity to network with other professionals, learn new techniques, and gain new knowledge - even as you prepare for your presentation. Additionally, presenting at a conference can provide you with the opportunity to present your work to a wider audience and the opportunity to receive feedback and learn from other professionals.

A note for students 🎓

Speaking at a conference might feel like something reserved for senior engineers or industry veterans. That is not true, and it was never true. Some of the most memorable talks at AWS Community Day have come from people early in their careers who had the courage to share what they built and what they learned.

If you have worked on a hackathon project, a university research initiative, or even a personal side project on AWS, that is a talk. You do not need to be an expert. You need to have done something real and be willing to share it honestly.

This year we are piloting a student showcase: a dedicated slot where students can present their work in a shorter format (10 to 15 minutes). If you are interested, submit your proposal and mention that you are a student. We would love to hear from you.

Why should I present at the AWS Community Day?

Obviously, we love having everyone share their stories at the AWS Community Day. Our communities are driven by sharing stories, experiences, challenges, successes, and everything in between. The more stories our community shares, the more everyone learns.

Our community helps put a human face on the industry buzzwords and lingo, bringing the real world into the spotlight.
Speaking at an event like the AWS Community Day is a unique opportunity to build your brand and expand your speaker profile, and it allows you to highlight your team as a great place to work for hiring managers.

When is the reception for the speakers?

There is usually a reception for volunteers and speakers on the eve of the conference. This is an opportunity for us to thank the speakers and volunteers in advance.
